Our corporate sponsors get the opportunity to give students the financial and/or material resources to design and learn, producing a generation of students accustomed to your software, product, and brand.
Individuals usually give financially via a Student Society Support donation using the Mechanical Science and Engineering donation form.

Illini Formula Electric (IFE) is made up of undergraduate students at the University of Illinois across a wide variety of disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and materials engineering, among others. Our team members work tirelessly each year to build a race worthy electric car from scratch with the goal of competing against other teams in an international collegiate competition sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
IFE provides many learning opportunities, giving students the chance to do hands on work beyond anything they would experience in a traditional classroom setting. Students learn to create designs using industry standard CAD software, verify them in simulations and small scale tests, take into account manufacturability considerations, and work with their peers in interdisciplinary cooperation to integrate their projects on the car. Throughout the design and build process, students are challenged to think critically and creatively to solve complex engineering problems. The culmination of all our efforts is apparent in the final product: a highly competitive, fully electric race car.
To continue and improve our team we rely entirely on our generous sponsors. Members of IFE are responsible for raising 100% of the resources needed to complete our car through both cash donations and in-kind donations of goods or services from our sponsors.
